Popup invasion
When I logged into forum this morning I was greeted with a huge popup covering almost the entire screen. It does not identify the source but is a lot of large frames of feet, with the first labeled "What the f..." There is an X at top of popup to close it but you have to be fast or it disappears. This popup appears almost every time I change screens. I have a popup blocker on but it can't seem to catch this. Tremendously annoying. Anyone else having the problem? Any ideas on how to stop it?

Have you downloaded many "free" programs? That's usually how adware gets on your computer. What really irks me about those fucking parasites is that what they do is technically legal. Another maddening instance of law lagging behind technology.
Uh, OK, what should I write here...
Sweet and to the point:
My strong preference is for seated, both-feet shoeplay. Dangling, and shoeplay with open-toed shoes or mules, I'm afraid don't do as much for me.

I rarely download free programs and cannot recall doing so recently. I can use Firefox except it will not display the linked YouTube videos from the forum, says I need a plug-in which I haven't searched around for. Neither browser will display the Russian hotel webcams in another part of the forum for me, just displaying the little "x"

This happens when you visit the forum from a mobile device. Guys, this forum costs money to keep up... i never asked and never will ask anything to any of you...but i need to find ways to at least cover hosting expenses. I am experimenting with this, and i will see if after one month it will help or not covering the costs.
If it doesn't, i will of course remove it.

I saw elsewhere about Mobile Mask, which is what this is, I guess. The problem is that I have never visited the site from a mobile device, only a desktop (all-in-one). The Mobile Mask site itself says the application does not like Internet Explorer. So I would say the application has bugs and I would hope it would be removed.

Oh, I hope it didn't sound like I was directing any blame at you nyllover. In fact it's quite remarkable how little advertizing there is here and how well you manage too keep out spammers.
I've had adware infections that would insert full video commercials into sites that don't ordinarily have ads at all, or that will interpolate links into text you type. (For instance if you type "chocolate" it will highlight that word as a link leading to a Snickers ad.)
Ads are inevitable for now, but it's worth asking, is this shit really inevitable in the long run? Do we have to put up with this indefinitely? Is all this mind pollution really the most efficient way to finance and support everything from journalism to websites?
I don't fucking think so. Not by a damn sight.
Advertizing executive has to be one of the lowest forms of human occupation, right down there political "pundit" (a title so empty it had to be made up just for television).

Yes, Nyllover, I started getting the mask Saturday when I first logged on in the morning and it comes up on every screen change. I don't even own a smartphone or tablet. It comes up on Internet Explorer but not on Firefox. It is a pain in the ass to keep closing it. And I don't want to keep switching browsers.

How many experience do you have in the field? Because i'm open to suggestions of coursenotalwaysright10000 wrote: Ads are inevitable for now, but it's worth asking, is this shit really inevitable in the long run? Anyway, as i said, this mobile advertising will stay in place for one month. Then if it doesn't work out i will surely remove it...or i will try to find a way so that only non-logged members see it

What I was getting at, really, is that our entire economic system is collapsing and over the next fifteen years or so people in Western democracies are going to have to rethink some very basic assumptions if they're to remain democratic (or quasi-democratic).
If there's one idea I wish I could get the whole world to understand it's the paradox of information: Democracy depends on an informed public that can evaluate the validity of various institutions, but the public can't be well informed without institutions to gather and make available trustworthy information.
In exact proportion to the extent that an institution gains the trust of the public, useless oxygen sucking assholes with more power and money than intellect or integrity will attempt to influence and control those institutions in their own favor, like honey attracting insects.
I'm not really concerned with what political views someone holds as long as they can learn to think and inform themselves competently, because everything else flows from that.
Yeah, this is really out of place but I can't resist sometimes.

My first goal has always been our community's "Happiness"...therefore i made a change. Now you shouldn't see it anymore as long as you are logged in the forum.Feeture Feature wrote:Yes, Nyllover, I started getting the mask Saturday when I first logged on in the morning and it comes up on every screen change.
