Not a new scene alert but a new "service" alert. ALL the biggest television companies are running into the Video On Demand online system. AOL and Warner bros will soon launch a new site ( http://television.aol.com/in2tv ) that will offer at very very cheap prices (if not free) the view of FULL EPISODES. Rumors speak about a total of 14.000 Episodes available at ANY TIME to be seen by ANYONE.

A new time is coming... we'll be able to catch ANY footsie scene in ANY tv series

P.S. and no...i still don't have internet at home

Sounds exciting, but surely it is just a select list of show you can order from? You can't simply order any scene from any film..

They say you will pay from 0.99$ to 1.99$ for a single Episode. I think that's a really affordable price considering that many of us till now had to buy the DVD of the whole series to get just one scene (i did that sometimes....)

Here's what my local newspaper says: New In2TV broadband network will launch early next year starting with 30 series (Welcome Back Kotter, Sisters, and Growing Pains among them) as streamcasts. Channels will be Comedy, Drama, Animation, Sci-Fi and Horror, Action-Adventure, Vintage TV. Plans are to offer more than 100 series in first year, and at least 300 episodes a month. Programs will be available EXCLUSIVELY on AOL. SOME shows will be in AOL Hi-Q format (DVD quality) and a plug-in will be needed for computers. There will be ads before and after shows and where original commercial breaks were. Also, banners [BOO!]. The shows will be FREE to AOL members [not available to others at all]. Also the shows WILL NOT be in syndication on regular TV when available online [what will some stations show if all these shows dry up?]

My comments now: Since these will be streamcasts (at least to start), I think that means you cannot save to your hard disk, just watch as the video streams to your computer, although supposedly there is software that can capture video streaming. I have never tried such software.

The major networks are in talks to allow current primetime shows to air on demand, on a pay basis. I think ABC allows "Lost" and "Desperate Housewives" for $1.99 an episode playable on PC or video-capable iPod.

They will be available only to AOL users.... never mind then

About the streaming part...yes there are programmes who can do that....although i'm wondering what they mean when they say you will need to plug something into your pc...

A few more points. While my newspaper said the video would be available to only AOL members, other reports do not make that limitation, so maybe it will be available to others as well. I have never made use of all the short video on demand already available at AOL.com, so I really don't know how that works.

And as for a plug-in, I believe software is meant, not hardware. To see the programs in AOL Hi-Q, people will have to use peer-to-peer filesharing through software supplied by AOL.

There will also be trivia contests, interactive features, and games as well as special shows of clips. Remember though only series distributed by Warner Brothers will be included.

I thought the better news I saw was an ad in a Something Weird Video catalog that their movies would soon be on Comcast Cable video on demand. Great news for Comcast customers, although I am not one. Some really rare movies could be seen then.
