Pictures blocked by porn & slime
This is an excellent website. Unfortunately, there is a problem which keeps getting worse. Even though I am registered and logged in, when I am in the Live/Candid or similar area and click on a picture to enlarge it, many times it is blocked by one of several websites with porn and obnoxious slime. I never get to see the enlarged versions of the pictures that are posted in this site. It happens with every single picture in the group. It is very frustrating and annoying, and a rude and inexcusable waste of people's time.
I have tried everything I know but can't get past the porn. Is there something I can do to solve this? Also, I would like someone to explain why this is being allowed to keep happening.
May I suggest that at least one of two things should definitely happen immediately. One is that if those in charge are going to allow people to keep doing this, then it be mandatory that something be noted on the post to the effect that the full pictures can't be viewed because they are blocked by a porn website. That way people won't waste their time going to a page or pages where they won't be able to see the pictures. The second thing, which I think is better, is that those in charge remove every single picture that is rigged like this. Whoever is doing this should get one warning. If they do it again, they should be permanently banned from this site.
This is a very offensive thing that people are doing. It is enough to make me stop visiting this website. Thank you.

Well i totally understand your point, and i agree at some stage. The "porn sites" you are referring to are adverts displayed by image (or file) hosting services, that do this in order to cover the costs of the free hosting.
It's impossible for me and the moderators to remove every single picture that had been posted like that, but one thing we can do is ban certain file hosting services, leaving just those that don't display so many adverts.
Now the question is this, and i do ask for you and everybody's help:
- Which file/picture hosting services are free of porno advertisement AND still let erotic pictures to be posted?
let's discuss this all together, to create a list of allowed services or, at least, a list of banned ones.
We need your help here guys.

A very good topic indeed. But I'm not sure which ones can or should be blocked because sometimes they are useful. Image Shack. for example, sometimes click on it, and goes right to the image, like the previews of the clip before downloading, but at times goes to Livejasmin, which I don't care for, or some other thing pops up. Some members may like it, so to each is own. I'm going to have to give this some thought before saying any more, but that's all for now.

Yes, very good point. Some image hosts don't always display adverts, only sometimes based on... i don't know. We need to work on this guys, but it would of course be nice to be able to find one that doesn't display too many ads.
Hosting photos on this forum doesn't work at the moment, and it probably won't work for a long time. Moreover, many people prever image hosts (and i do as well) because you can share the same photo on more places without loosing too much time so... we need to find good hosts

1. Does Imageshack have an "adult" ID that, if active, will send you to the livejasmin site?
2. Should we discriminate between image hosts for non-sexual images (dangling, dipping) versus sexual (footjobs)? In other words try and have two "approved" image hosting sites for each type of photo.
3. What, if any, countermeasures are members using to eliminate or minimize pop-ups.
4. From my experiences Picfoco has been the worst host.

In response to #2 of Dead Parrot's good questions: If I understand correctly, I would say we don't have to get into questions of discriminating or non-sexual versus sexual sites. The test should be that if anything prevents us from fully viewing "our" pictures posted on this websiste, then it is subject to action by the administrator of this board. It could mean that no action would be taken sometimes. Any situation can be dealt with on a case-by-case basis with a process that is simple rather than complicated. To me, the biggest, most important factor or rule of thumb to use when deciding what to do in any particular case, is that the more of "our" pictures a site blocks, the more likely that action will be taken so the same thing doesn't keep happening. I'm being selfish about not being able to "view" images because this situation is much more unfair to all of you who put in the time and effort to post pictures. To have all of your pictures blocked from full size viewing just isn't right. I apologize for jumping in so much but I don't want to complain and then not do anything to help. It is impressive that what others have written reflects mature and decent attitudes and just plain "class." All of those things are too rare these days. I appreciate your high qualties. Many thanks.

I am also joining the crowd which thinks this is a good point what we need to discuss.
Some of the image stores are really annoying to me as well. I think picfoco is definitely the worst. There is always a pop-up with porn stuff whenever I click on a picture tumbnail. While 'Imagebam' and 'Imageshack' are definitely better. The latter pops up an advert only on first occasion when you are clicking onto a tumbnail on that day. Then for the consecutive tumbnails it does not generate further adverts. At least this is what I have obsrved.

With some sites such as Imagevenue and Imagebam there is a choice of buttons you can click marked something like "adult content" or "safe", the exact wording varies from site to site. If you click the safe rather than the adult button then there should be no pop ups. Do this even if the image is adult as they rarely catch on. I have been using imageupper.com lately and have found them to be good.

I second the positive review of Imagebam and Imagevenue.
I myself use ImageShack, but I have no hardcore images there.
Hotlinkimage seems ok. It does have some pop-ups but I'm able to block them effectively.

We are really close to add a forum rule specific on this matter, all we need now is a list of "good" hosts.
Till now we would add these as "good" hosts:
http://www.imagevenue.com/
http://imageshack.us/
http://www.pixa.us
If you want to add more to this list, please reply to this topic AND add a sample of an image hosted there, so that we can see how many advertisement gets displayed.
Thanks!
