In "Wild Rose" from 1932, (aired April 18 on Turner Classic Movies), actress Renmei Wang lives in a village and runs around barefoot at start of movie. A rich painter takes her to Shanghai and buys her fancy clothes, including flats, to impress his father so she will be invited to live with his family. At the party where she is to be introduced she sits on couch and there is a close-up of her slipping flats off stocking feet. When an important guest arrives the painter grabs her to rush her off the couch. She tries to hold back to put shoes on and is pulled into a serving cart which then hits the VIP guest. She rushes in her stocking feet to wipe food off the guest and then other people notice her one stocking has fallen down. She looks down and can't figure out what is wrong. Finally she props up the foot and pulls up the stocking and attaches it with garter. She still does not know why people are so disapproving and grabs the skirt of a guest and pulls it up to show she has garters. The painter's father says to throw the wild child off the property.

Anyone with access to Watch TCM (requires cable subscription to Turner Classic Movies) can see this movie for about a week.
