One way I find them is going onto friends' pages, then clicking on one of THEIR friends whom I dont know, then looking at those peoples friends list, and repeating the process.

I looked up some old co-workers names. Some of the pages were for the wrong person but I looked at the friends lists to see if their is anything interesting,in particular, if they were from a location I find interesting. I enjoy seeing things like travel and architecture photos, and facebook has many good amateur "sightseeing" photos (which is why I also use Google street Views frequently). In pictures of graduations, social events (parties, bars, holiday get togethers) or things like buisness functions, theres a chance you can find some heelpops or dangles.
