Stocking Scenes in Movies from 1920s to 1960s

Bell, Book and Candle 1958
Kim Novak's costume in this movie, including backless dress, black long gloves and red stilettos, are considered classics in movie history. In this scene, Novak is resting on the sofa in that dress. The pair of stilettos are set beside her feet, while she keeps caressing her feet wearing black nylons with her hands with long gloves.
In most versions today, the screen is cropped. Although the loss is not big, we are not able to see Novak's ankles like in the original version in the close view. When she walks around holding the cat, we can’t see her feet most of the time either.At the end of this scene, Stewart helps Novak put on the stilettos.

After a long journey, Janis Paige finally takes a carriage with Dennis Morgan and Jane Wyman. She looks very relaxed, humming, while taking off shoes. When removing right shoe, she takes a look at her sole, and we can find her stocking is worn out. Then she motions Morgan to take his hat away so she can set her shoes and relax her feet on the seat.

Jane Martel is walking on sidewalk after shopping and carrying packages. She gets her heel caught in manhole cover. Ross Alexander offers to help but he breaks the heel off. She storms off in one shoe angryly and he is left holding the shoe. She crosses the street and gets in her car and her driver takes off. Later when she arrives at home she walks into house in one shoe and has to explain to her mother how she lost the shoe.

College Humor 1933
Mary Carlisle sits on the sofa with her legs curls up, listening to Bing Crosby playing the piano. She says "I like that.", then asks "Do you mind if I take off my shoes?" and at the same time takes them off. Crosby reminds her several times to get those shoes right back on but she doesn't mind at all and says she always feels more interment with her shoes off.

After making sure that her daughter is asleep, Colbert suddenly raises one leg and groans "Oh, my feet hurt!". Louise Beavers says "Well, come on, honey. Sit down and let me rub your feet." Colbert sits on sofa and stretches her legs to Beavers. Beavers removes her high heels and begins to massage. Colbert sighs "That rests me all over." The feet massage lasts almost one and a half minutes.

Frank Sinatra is having a phone call with Rita Hayworth on his yacht. Suddenly Kim Novak comes, which really surprised him. Novak looks a little drunk, she kicks off high heels while twisting the waist to tempt him. She passes out after a kiss,which makes Sinatra very embarrassed. He have to set her on his bed and spend the night outdoors.
In both fullscreen and widescreen version, it's difficult to see Novak's feet clearly when she kicking off shoes because of the poor camera angle. But later, in a close up of her feet, we can get fuller picture in uncut version.
