Nylon Shortage?

I live in the Northeast and we're experiencing a bitter chill at the moment as its winter of course. I'm in a professional workplace with many women and I'm stunned at the lack of nylons I'm seeing. It's 22 degrees F today where I am and I've seen numerous women bare in flats and even one bare in mules. My only guess is its warm in the building so there's no need but what are your thoughts? Not complaining, but I find it shocking.

The women here in NC look like they are in Alaska! All booths and pants. Haven't seen a dress or skirt in 2 weeks. A few at Christmas, then the cold came & you would think it's 40 below. Even the wife who usually wears dresses and or skirts to church has gone boots and pants. Thankfully March isn't too far away.

It's pretty much been the same for the past 20 years. Especially around the snow days. Women just rarely wear nylons anymore.

I live in major East Coast city and was out for the weekend. I was in the ritzy area and you do see women in hosiery all dressed up going to the fancy places. Other than that it's the goth look with the black nylons and black boots

It's the ebb and the flow. Nylons are an aesthetic thing, and sadly, winter is a pretty practical season. The late summer weather killed our cool fall, and this cold snap isn't helping matters any.

My wife wears a lot of dresses and tights compared to other women I know, and between stress and illness and practicality, it has been a lean winter. Maybe 2, 3 dresses with tights? That's just one anecdote. Boots are still the winning accessory here.

Also inflation here in America makes it worse...some think why buy nylons when I can just go bare or buy thick long lasting socks
