anyone here work or use to work in IT? I'm asking because I'm at a loss to understand some URLs on youtbue channels. I have downloaded thousands of youtube videos using the same site for decades and now all of a sudden I get a message saying the video can't be downloaded, then in 2 weeks or so I'm able to download, does anyone know why that happens with some youtube url's they're good and then they're not it comes and goes.

I use JDownloader and that requires a specific cookie string to log in to YouTube; a username and password aren't adequate. Every so often that does expire. I'm wondering if it could be the same sort of thing.

Ciphered Signatures: YouTube often uses signature ciphering to protect video streams. Some videos require these signatures to be deciphered before downloading. If your downloader doesn't handle this properly (or is out of date), the URL will fail.

Adaptive Streaming (DASH): Many YouTube videos are split into separate video and audio streams. Basic downloaders might only fetch one stream or fail entirely.

Geographic Restrictions: Some videos are region-locked. If the downloader's server (or your IP) is in a restricted region, the download fails.

YouTube constantly changes things to make downloading harder or different and those tools need time to update their code to work around YouTube's changes. You're probably running into issues after YouTube has changed something and your site or tool is still trying to update their code.

thanks so much for the feedback I guess it's just the luck of the draw whether or not they download. does anyone know of updated download sites that don't require me to download an extension to rip vids.
