Every time I watch these old movies, every woman is in heels and nylons…God I bet it was spectacular. I guess the 1 drawback was women were very shy and subservient (maybe not right word) back in those days and I bet they didn’t dare dip or dangle where men could see.

If I remember there was an episode in Mad Men where Peggy (I think) was cleaning the office kitchen and she had her heels off and they made sure to focus on it as if it was big deal.

I think it would have been west with 99% of women dressed like that and not this day and age of comfy ugly “fashion type tennis shoes”

The Mad Men episode you speak of was in the fourth season. It was Episode 5. It wasn't Peggy, but Dr. Faye Miller (Cara Buono) who was had her shoes off doing the dishes at the agency, which is weird, because Dr. Miller didn't actually work at the agency. Quick, but great shot.

Of course I wish I had a time machine to see what it was like to have so many women in dresses / skirts and hosiery. It would be overkill after a while for me. I would settle for the 80s and 90s
