i don't know if you've noticed, but today this forum was down once again. And i'm fed up of this. My current hosting provider (GoDaddy) has the WORST customer service EVER. Like when there is a problem, you can't even open a support ticket so that someone can help you.

So i am moving to a new one.

Movement should be completed in the next days.

The only issue (hopefully) will be that some of the messages posted these days will be lost. So if you have something really important to post, either wait or be prepared to post it again soon.

Sorry about this...but this had to be done.

I'll let you know once the movement is complete.

For the record, i'm moving to HostGator. Actually...they are going to make the move for me. For free. That's a good start

Also i hope this move will also let me upgrade to the new version of Phpbb, which was impossible on GoDaddy

I used to love GoDaddy, but I started running into issues with them too, in recent years.

Thing is...i don't want to close the forum till the move is done. So...let me explain.

To move, this forum needs to be saved at a certain moment and then copied to the other server. Then, after checking that everything works, i'll finish the switch.

Everything done into the forum (everything) immediately after the save of it and before the switch is finished, will be lost. Probably we are talking about 1 day or 2 of forum content. I tihnk it's better like this than having to keep forum closed till move is done.

Gotcha. And I agree, I'd much rather have the forum working, while we wait.

Migration just started.

Everything you post from now WILL BE LOST.

It's the program that handles the whole forum.
Updating it to the newest version would allow, among other things, to be able to enjoy the forum from a smartphone :-)

But one thing at a time... migration still in progress...not going as smooth as i was hoping

This is taking longer than i thought. Unfortunately I can't-do it myself, so I need to wait for them to do the job...and they are being extremely slow guys

Take your time, better to get it right than to rush it and possibly make errors. (I have learned this lesson many, many times....)

Definitely seems so! The most noticeable increase for me is on the pages with lots of Youtube embeds.
