When I turned on computer this morning, screen had story of Cannes film festival banning women in flats from red carpet screenings and requiring high heels, no matter age or medical condition of women. Seems to have stirred up firestorm, with some actors even saying they will wear high heels in protest (more likely in search of publicity). This won't help encourage a return to high heels by women in general.

Well, the truth is that we have seen a lot of scruffily dressed people in the Cannes red carpet in the last few years. They are probably trying to protect the image of the festival. In any case I believe that ballerinas can be a smart choice even for a black tie event.
