Shoe dropping poses by french painter Francois Martin Kavel

I recently came across the french Pre-Raphaelite painter Francois Martin Kavel (1861-1931): one of his most frequent subjects is with the model in a crossed-ankle pose with a shoe dropped to the floor!!!

Art is something I happen to know about. I wonder if he got the idea from Rubens?
