L'oreal commercial update
Well, I went to the library today to look for that ad in Glamour magazine. The magazine was so old that it was on microfilm. After searching for a while, I managed to locate a very grainy copy of the ad. It's for sure an ad for L'oreal, so that's what the commercial must be too. The ad was a close-up shot of a woman rubbing her bare foot on a guy's leg under the table with the title "L'oreal creme: The New Spirit of Chic." The next step is to try to locate that particular ad. Still working on it.

It doesn't look like I'm going to be able to get a hold of that L'oreal commercial......but I still might be able to get a hold of that Raquet Club one that someone else mentioned. If anyone else can remember any National commercials that they saw before that have footsie scenes in them, let me know asap and I'll look into them.

Don't worry about it. We all knew what an extreme longshot this was. I'm curious as to who you were going to use as a source though. My only thought at this point would be to go to L'oreal and ask them if they have some sort of print or video archive of their advertisements over the years.
Thanks for looking,

Hey LL007! I'd thought I would give you a helping hand. There's only ONE place online that can help you with searching for that L'oreal commercial... but it's kinda pricey!

Great Caesar's Ghost!
How do they stay in business with prices like that? I wonder who their target market is? Do they sell to advertisers who are looking to copy older commercials? Is there some copywright issue here that I'm missing?
What's sad is: I'll bet they have it. I'd be willing to put money on it.
Well, perhaps in the future by keeping our eyes and ears open we can obtain this gem by other means. Regardless of how this attempt turned out, it was beneficial for exercising research skills alone.
Keep us updated on the search for the Racquet Club ad, and thanks for making the effort.

I realize that this may not be a popular idea, but what if everyone chipped in some money and as a group we purchased the video and had it sent to Nylover to be archived on the site? A lot of us know this video and consider it to be one of the best filmed scenes ever. It's apparent that it won't be easy to find or come cheaply.
I would hope that we would find it in an easier manner and a much cheaper manner, but if not, would anyone be willing to help bite the bullet for the good of the group?

Paypal donations are available from the main page of the site. I could get the money in that way and then buy the video but before even starting to think about it, we NEED to know who will send the money and if there are enough people to reach the quota. It would be useless to start collecting money if we don't know if we'll ever reach the necessary money.
So, DO NOT start sending money for this purpose until we decide a "plan of action". THe links to PayPal till now were there for everyone to be able to contribute to the website's expenses, not to collect money for this ad

I'm in for $25.00.
Correct me if I'm wrong here but it appears that we would be paying $525.00 (U.S. dollars) for a digital copy of the commercial. A worst case scenario would be them researching it for an hour, which adds $75.00 to the total charge (so $600.00). So we are left with this:
No research - $525.00. This means we need:
21 people to give $25.00, or
27 people to give $20.00, or
35 people to give $15.00 or
53 people to give $10.00.
With one hour of research - $600.00. This means we need:
24 people to give $25.00, or
34 people to give $20.00, or
40 people to give $15.00 or
60 people to give $10.00.
I am atrocious when it comes to math so please double check my numbers here.
Seperate thread for contributors?

Just one last question. Did anybody check if they send abroad?
I had a quick look last night but couldn't find any information about it, i guess i'll write them to discover it.
Also...be in mind that the perfect solution would be the video to be delivered either by DVD or by high quality digital format (AVI or MPEG). THis adds something to the cost, if i'm not wrong.

Good point. I looked at the site again but did not see anything regarding overseas shipments. Let us know what you find out.nyllover wrote:Just one last question. Did anybody check if they send abroad?
$25.00 extra for the AVI/MPEG conversion. This shouldn't be a problem if enough contributors line up.nyllover wrote:Also...be in mind that the perfect solution would be the video to be delivered either by DVD or by high quality digital format (AVI or MPEG).
