To a person who doesn't already have a vivid memory bank of the person's physiognomy from many different angles, it's almost impossible to tell for certain if any two given photographs depict the same person unless they are taken from exactly the same angle in exactly the same lighting. That said, for what it's worth, I'm going to say yes, I'm as confident as I can be -on the basis of two such dissimilar photos- that they do indeed depict the same person.
But don't just take that with a grain of a salt, unscrew the cap and down the whole shaker.
Not to boast, but since it's directly germane to the question I'll mention I do have two skill sets that (arguably) enhance my perceptions in this context:
a) I'm a neuroscience grad student and know quite a bit about how the brain perceives and processes images
b) I'm an artist who's done quite a few portraits, which really trains your eye to pick up on very subtle variations among human faces
Oh, and I should probably mention an amusing coincidence. A few months ago, I became ~85% certain that a photo of a Las Vegas stripper was a girl I went to high school with, but I ultimately turned out to be dead wrong.
