Great more bad press for people like us. Good call playing it off as an art thing though. People are just stupid.

They said what he is doing is not against the law so why did they say he might get 4 years in prison?
A few more stories like this and it will be the end of us candid lovers

He would face prison time if a jury (and he's not arrested) found the photos of an arrested person "intimate". To me that says it would have to be upskirt or down blouse pics, not feet. Also I believe its legal outside in the public domain, not in bookstores or malls (private property)

I can only speak for U.S. law, but this guy definitely did not do anything that is illegal here, let alone a felony.
There is simply no case to be made.
For all I know there might be some basis for a legal case had this happened in (say) Italy.
My hunch says no, but I know in most Europe the free speech laws are nowhere near as robust and uncompromising as here in the U.S.
That's one of the very few things this country really *can* justly boast about.

That's the sad thing about journalists. They make people believe anything... like here in Italy there is no free speach and all... bullshit, to say the least
That wouldn't have been illegal also here in Italy...so...really...don't see why he should face prison

"No ideas and the ability to express them, that's a journalist."
-Karl Kraus
You definitely won't ever hear me say anything good about the assorted eunuchs, sycophants, demagogues, witless Barbie dolls, scoundrels, and corporate courtiers who comprise American journalism, let alone will I credulously accept anything they say without first going to the original primary sources.
Forgive me, I certainly didn't mean to imply there is anything remotely like totalitarian censorship in Italy or anywhere else in Western Europe;
there are however (for example) hate speech laws in many European countries, which I consider an intolerable and worthless abridgment of free speech.
Free speech means free speech, not mostly free speech.
And it is misleading to say free speech exists *even* for the views you despise; it is *especially* for the views you despise.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to boast about this ridiculous country.
America's present status as laughing stock of the developed world is *richly* deserved, and then some -not least because our citizens are mostly lazy minded slobs who don't read anything that can't be purchased at a supermarket and get most of their non-information from the aforementioned "journalists".
Most my fellow Americans are like dogs that can be made to run after a tennis ball that has not been thrown.
All it takes is shiny things and pretty faces on TV to distract them.
But our (almost) unconditional free speech laws are one of the few things I will boast about.

This is what I love about THIS website. True Discussion ( in addition to the content we all love). I posted this same link on a more "popular" foot fetish message board on the same day. It has yet to garner one response.

Well it's nice to receive a more or less positive response.
I was almost sure I was going to get a reply like, "Now you listen here buddy, the U-S of A is the BEST country in the HISTORY of the goddamn WORLD, and if you don't like it you can just get the HELL out..."
These are generally the same people who think our health care system is the envy of the world, and think TV has a liberal bias because *TV tells them so* ad nauseam.
(Never mind what might be said in print; print doesn't really exist for them.)

Now that you explained it a bit more, i totally agree with you. Free speech in USA is a unique thing (sadly) and surely one of the things to be proud of.
Let me just add that...well...i've always been an USA "fan"...and my biggest dream is to visit New York...so... you won't find me saying too bad things about that country...i was just somehow "protecting" Italy

Sad to read that!!
Here in germany actually nobody cares if you take some pictures. As long as you don´t take upskirts. I always have my camera with me and i take a lot of pictures. No feet candids, but there are a always a lot of people (and legs) on my pictures and nobody ever said a single word about that.
Don´t know what to say. He did nothing wrong.
Edit:
I can´t hear it anymore. The US people aren´t really free. It´s just some speech i guess. They don´t care.
And the health care system ? Well ? I couldn´t live there. They don´t do shit for their citizens. If you don´t have a job you are seriously f*cked up.
Well, and more than 50% of the US belong to china anyway.
It´s very complex, but i´ve seen a very nice documentation about the US and i was shocked. So many poor people. So many people don´t have a job. The US is not all about hollywood and pretty people.
They are selling their country out. Sad, really sad!!!
