Flip Flop Nation

Post by Mr. Mike »

1st off, let me state that I absolutely HATE these bacteria ridden things we call flip flops.

I was a kid in the mid to late 70's growing up in Southern California. The ONLY times flip flops were acceptable were for going to the beach and running errands (grocery store, cleaners...). Now, especially here in the US, as we've become such a "casual nation", it seems okay to wear flips flops in while working in high end department stores, to the bars, out to restaurants...the latter to me is awful that women wear them to restaurants. Now I knw there are a lot of "designer flip flops", but at the end of the day they are flip flops.

I also started thinking about the "Golden Age", the 40's - 60's where every woman wore high heels and nylons for almost every occasion. I think the one thing we all might not get about this era, was that it was probably just a big tease. I would think that woemn would be looked down upon and even scolded if they dipped or ever took their shoes ooff in the workplace. Women in the workplace was barely accepted as it was, lest they dare also try and get comfortable...

Just some thoughts to see what you guys think!

I second that. I know the situation only in central part of Europe (3-4 neighbouring countries) and I can tell you guys that flip-flops are absolutely OUT. During the summer I can hardly see any girl hitting the road wearing flip flops. Flat sandals are really popular, flats, sneakers...high heel sandals. So it's not bad at all.

I like them. Girls feel freer to lift their soles up. I'll take them over flats any day.

I love flip flops, to be honest. I also like pumps, mules, wedges, and ballerina flats.

I don't like CLOGS or gladiator sandals.

Flip flops are orrible. If a girl wants NOT to have sex with me, she just has to wear them.
