Socks and Girls' Feet on TV Shows

Socks does indeed give them that high school innocent look. Stockings are just sexy because it's like a really nice pair of lacy panties. There's always more to dig behind the fabric. Here's another question. Back in the 80's to mid 90's women who were not wearing shoes in sitcoms and primetimes shows always wear white socks. Why is that? Is it because they fear showing their feet? Not gettng a pedicure then? Or is it because it's "taboo" again to show feet? Now we see bare feet a lot more often on TV shows. We even get to see occassional footsie scenes such as Desperate Housewives. Maybe this is the beginning of an evolution.
