Thoughts on fall trends

I went to the local movie house last night and was pleased that attendance seemed to be greater than usual for an independent film (the theatre does not show blockbusters). But I got bad vibes about the female footwear. The weather has turned a little cooler and more fall-like. About half the women were still wearing sandals but the other half seemed to be wearing sneakers (the only footwear I dislike more is gladiator sandals). I hope this is only a passing transition and women will wear dressier shoes soon. I had women seated in the row behind me in seats to either side of mine and I managed to get my hand trampled by the sneakers-wearing woman to my left for the entire second half of the movie. That's why I love going to this theatre, it is perfect for putting your hand through the seat beside you and as the seats rise high in each row and are directly behind the one in front, with a large dropoff under the seat in front, women often extend their feet beyond the edge of the floor and onto the cushion of the seat in front. The rows are close enough together that there is not much chance of my hand being seen from above. The best audiences seem to be those for one-night showings of taped Shakespeare and other plays. There's one next week. I also like to go to a concert hall downtown on Saturdays when performances of the Metropolitan Opera from New York are shown. Women are more likely to be dressed nice, including dress shoes, although the seats are staggered and more open so harder and more dangerous to try and get trampled.

It's still warm here in New England, and I've been surprised how quickly girls have switched into leggings and boots (or booties) from their shorts and flip-flops. Yeah, there are ballet flats out, but it just seems like it's still way too warm for knee-high boots, you know?

Of course, my fiancee's new pair of fall/winter boots came in the mail this week. I've started dropping hints about trouser socks to wear with her ballet flats when it's cold enough - though she's always accommodating when she wears dresses and skirts through the winter (her second job is just far more pants-friendly).

Unfortuneately there are the majority of women who want to hold on to summer so the fall transition doesn't begin until October in my opinion.Just curious are you in the city,suburbs,country?

Footsiefreak, I live in a city of about 100,000 people, on the edge of downtown. Besides the large Hispanic population spreading out from downtown, we are mostly senior whites and college students in my neighborhood. Most events and locations that would draw women less casually dressed are at some distance from my home and I depend on public transportation, which is very bad here and does not operate on a very frequent schedule or on extensive routes. So I am limited as to the amount of women I see to judge the trends. You are right, some women are desperate to hold on to summer and I have seen them out in sandals in below freezing temperatures and even early snowstorms or ice storms, which we can get as early as the middle of October. Then there are those who wear boots in July.

I went to the library yesterday and the fall transition had begun....I saw mostly young women in sneakers... no boots...and only 1 young lady in flip flops..its still about 70 degrees F here in southern new england,USA

i guess if the women I see wore nylons with flats or heels for easy shoeplay I wouldnt mind the fall/winter trends so much...but here they just usually wear boots all winter and if they happen to wear nylons its with boots so no shoeplay...For that reason I hang on to summer and hope to see sandals for as long as I can. Just My Opinion on the matter..i would rather see a bare foot then no foot at all

It's not that bad here in a Central European city where I live. There were few cool days, and the nylons are back. If I do not count sneakers with socks, I would say there are 70% nylon socks or pantyhose and 30% bare. Next week it will be colder, so I suppose ankle boots will be back

But let's see, what happens.
