I've been digging into Discord and, I have to say, I'm impressed. But there are already many footfetish communities out there... do we really need one?

It's funny that this topic should come up so soon after I set up my own foot fetish Discord. Lol
As far as whether or not to go with it, there many benefits to be had from it, many of which are evident when you explore other communities and observe how they operate. The real question is, do you really want one more extra thing to have to monitor?
