Foot fetish scenes already in silent movies

Recently Turner Classic Movies here in US showed some Mack Sennett comedies from the 1920's, all silent and short. Three in particular would have been of interest to foot fetish fans, so the film industry seemed to cater to them already back then.

In "Picking Peaches" (1924) after an intertitle card showing the words "Why he loves his job" a shoestore clerk is shown removing one shoe from the stocking feet of each of 3 women. With the first there is some confusion about a false leg that causes the clerk to accuse the woman of being a shoplifter. The store manager threatens the clerk with being fired. A cat brushes against the foot of the second woman and she socks the clerk in the face, accusing him of getting fresh. The third woman flirts madly with the clerk and he enjoys it but soon he has an accident with the ladder along the shelves of shoes and is hanging out the window, with the woman trying to save him.

In "The Extra Girl" (1923) actress Mabel Normand is hiding under the covers on her wedding day. Her father comes and when he tries to get her out of bed, she sticks out a bare sole and leg quite daringly and kicks at him. They struggle and the wedding guests come to see what is going on. She gets pulled from bed with one bare leg and foot and the other in stocking and shoe.

In "Down on the Farm" (1920) actress Louise Fazenda falls from a high shelf in a store after she climbed up when seeing a mouse. She loses her shoes in the fall and goes into the next room. She overhears her father and his landlord cook up a deal for her to marry the landlord. She writes a letter indicating she is already married and when the landlord comes in and proposes to her she shows him the letter and he is furious. She is in stocking feet all this time and she makes sure to show the landlord her foot, crossing it toward him. He storms off and she does a little victory dance.

Just goes to show movie directors and producers always knew the power and erotic attraction of female feet on male audiences.
